I HAVE THE BEST LISTENERS IN THE WORLD, AND I MEAN IT!

The Mayor of Kentville Dave Corkum and I have a walking challenge going at the Kentville Indoor Soccer Facility, and I think the Mayor could sense that I was coming on today in our little wager. The challenge is to see who can raise the most money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Up until today, the Mayor was kicking my butt, but I think I may have come on thanks to a private citizen's (AND A FAITHFUL LISTENER) substantial donation. Here's the totals..

AFTER DAY 4
THE MAYOR $40+160=$200
ME!!!! $210+$33.22=$243.22

The Mayor is getting his staff to come down to contribute to his campaign, and rumor has it an e-mail went through the town 'encouraging' the staff to come and donate. It's just a rumor...that I just started...but it may be true! Here's the town CAO giving money to the Mayor.

Now this wasn't fair! The Mayor called in the Kentville Police to arrest me for soliciting funds in a public place. That's Kenny Reid (who I have know for at least 15 years) and Police Chief Mark Mander taking me in so the Mayor could collect more money. Luckily I had coffee and donuts in the AVR cruiser and distracted them long enough to get back to the Indoor Soccer Facility to edge out Corkum today!

This is the Kingston Lion's Club in Kingston, who are the recipients of a great prize from a great AVR Listener.

Here is one of the nicest women I have ever known! Her name is Joan Oikle, and I first met her when she was one of the owners of the Kingston Foodland, and she was sponsoring "Welcome to My Kitchen" when it was still a little show in Aylesford. She works for MLA Leo Glavine in Greenwood now and tries her very best to do the right thing for anyone looking for help in the community. Joan is also the luckiest person in radio contest history! She has some sort of system worked out, and I can't figure it out because I try to trick her, but she still seems to win every 30 days on AVR! She got in on the "Guy's Guide to Valentine's Day" contest that was sponsored by Reid Jewelers and Savage Oil. She had to give me a tip on what to do on Valentine's. Well Joan was too busy and really didn't pay attention to me, because she thought she was only winning the Gift Card from Reid's, she didn't even think about the $500 in Heating oil from Savage Oil. Our promotions girl, Weezie, pulled Joan's name out of the hat and I tried to call Joan. To make a long story short, Joan doesn't burn oil, and she donated the $500 to the Kingston Lions. This is Joan just after Barb Lyle (with the camera) took our picture with the Savage Oil Guys and King Lion Bob Lyle. Thanks Joan, you really understand community.

This is King Lion Bob Lyle donating a cheque to the Kingston food Bank. Accepting the cheque is Harley, the man to see if you are hungry in Kingston. Never hesitate to see him if you are truly in a jam.
A WILD prize winning day yesterday, and I have more fun for you tomorrow, I'll wake you up between 5:30 and 10. I still need your help at the Kentville Indoor Soccer Facility one last time tomorrow 10-11.
