Oaklawn Farm Zoo Aylesford

There is one thing I try to do every year and that's get to Oaklawn Farm Zoo. I just love all the animals, and every time I go either Gail or Ron (the owners) show me whats new. This year I brought Andrew Foote along to share in the experience. He has been to the zoo before, but I got him in places he never would have thought of! Thanks Gail and her whole zoo crew, you are great, and I'll be back before the season is out!

One of the lions sunning in the afternoon heat.

This is Gail's grandson, he is holding a baby gibbon. It was rejected by it's mother and Gail's daughter took it in to help raise him. Baby gibbons hand on their mother's belly, so that's where they have him. We had video, but it didn't turn out. It is so cool to hear him try and whoop!

This is a squirrel monkey and she is carring her baby on her back. Unlike the gibbon who will take 3 years to mature, this monkey will do it in a year. She jumps all over the cage like the baby isn't even there.

This is the place where the world's largest lion is buried. Rutledge passed just before the zoo opened this year, and Gail raised him by hand. It was heart breaking, and there is plenty of Rutledge stuff inside for you to look at and remember him. He must have been old because the news footage of him has Paul Menier on it, and Nancy Regan too!
I went to New Minas today for an AVR Win Sticker stop at Canadian Tire and we gave away a bunch of Tim Horton cards, DQ burgers and BK Whoppers. I'll be back on the road Friday at Scotian Gold in Coldbrook and I hope to see you there! Till tomorrow morning, look out for school zones, school bus stops, and school buses, they are on the road now!
