WHAT A WEEKEND, HOCKEY, SLEDDING AND A GOOD BBQ

There was 2 Acadia hockey games this weekend and both were fun for different reasons. The first game was Friday night against UPEI, and for some reason whenever they roll through town the game seems so long, like pond hockey, but I got to see lots of people and didn't have to work too hard!

This was neat, it was the first time I have ever seen sledge hockey live. If you are interested contact Kentville minor hockey, they can hook you up.

This is the toughest minor hockey player in Canada, OK Canning, Alyssa Fitzgerald, she's a goalie.

The Second night's game was against #1 ranked UNB. The crew from EastLink was there to broadcast the game live.

My good friend Bryan Lynch who I credit with getting me back in broadcasting. He got me on TV when no one else would look at me, and because of that I was able to get back into radio, then on the morning show. Brian worked here at AVR 20 years ago and we have been friends for about 21 years. He is like me as in we tell it like it is. Mark Bleckhorn is standing in front of him, one of the finest Avid editors TV has ever seen.

I like to call them the hot dog gang! I usually get 2 hot dogs before each game.

Here's big Dan, Eastlink's all around sports guy.

This is all new in the EastLink production truck. It looks like lots of monitors, but it's really 2 42 inch monitors divided up into different cameras and replay recorders. Their graphics have just been upgraded too. The were working off 5 cameras, 2 instant replay machines, 20 mics, and 2 separate graphic machines. It takes about 15 people to do these hockey games. This is Matt getting the graphics ready.

Tyler and Amanda Floor directing on the start of the broadcast making sure O Canada goes off without a hitch.

She was so scared she would fall on the ice!

Time keepers and penalty box officials.

Burger King Whopper Wave of winning row in the 1st period.

Big Mike on the main play camera for EastLink.

Down with the action! I love it when EastLink comes to do the games because I get to see all my old TV friends!

Matt Beardsly interviewing Graham between periods.

The press box was full Saturday night, but then again the stands were too!

Sunday we stayed home and BBQ'ed and did some sledding by the house. I hope to see you Friday at Memorial Park in Kentville for a family sledding party.

Here's Jen finding a surprise on her crazy carpet!
Monday is national eat your veggies day, and the show will have all kings of veggies trivia on it and a new song from the AVR Choir. I'll have more pics of the hockey game and sledding practice with Hunter Brule on Burger Hill tomorrow.
