EASTER BUNNY COMES TO MY MOM'S AND FRANK SPINNEY IN CONCERT FOR CANCER

EASTER WITH THE NEVILLE'S
I love family time, and Easter is a good one because it's just not family...IT'S FOOD TOO! I hope you got to spend time with your family too.

Here we all are in mom's backyard!

Before we went to mom's, since it was open...Jen and i made it to Pearl's In Paradise. This is a Valley tradition, and she went for the house specialty, haddy bits and fries!

Since i don't eat seafood, I get the cheese burger and fries, and it is tasty!

Me and my one friend!

FRANK SPINNEY FUND RAISER FOR THE RELAY FOR LIFE

Frank spinney and I got together for a series of fund raising concert in local Legion halls. We set out with what i thought was a lofty goal, to raise $5000. After the show in Berwick, which is only the 4th in a series of 5, we have surpassed that amount! There is still a show coming up in May at the Festival theater in Wolfville, get you tickets now!

Me on stage.

JASON MCCOY LIVE AT THE CASINO IN HALIFAX!

One of the 'perks' of working at AVR is I get to talk to all the big named celebs that roll through town, and since I have talked to Jason McCoy lots over the last 3 years, he thought it would be cool if we could get together again after meeting last year in the Annapolis Valley for our big concert at Willow Bank U Pick Farm. Alas, he was too busy before the show, and i was too tired after the show to stay, so we didn't get together. I did get free tickets, so I enjoyed the show. First time i was in the new casino Nova Scotia, and other than the shows and food, i have no desire to go back. I don't gamble, so it wasn't my thing, but it looked very nice. I did get to hang with a couple of the guys from the Witchta Band who got free tickets because they were at Jason's seminar at Long and McQuaid earlier in the day.

It was Jason and his guitar and the big screen all night. He is very entertaining!

He was playing along with the video on the big screen, and some of his early hair styles were...very trendy at the time!

He played for almost 2 hours, and he was fun to hear too. He told jokes and ribbed Johnny Reid, very cool show!

He had the fancy lighting too!

Me and AVR's Jen Pick before the show.

Here's the stage minus Jason.

This is the T-Shirt table, and he hooked his wagons up to World Vision as well so you could sponsor children at the show.

Great show Jason, and if you ever get to see a show in the Casino, very intimate, great sound and just a perfect place for the type of show he did. Really like the food too!

AVR WIN STICKER WINNER IN GREENWOOD

The AVR Community Cruiser was on the road today as we packed it full of prizes and headed to the Greenwood Mall. I gave away over $200 in free prizes, like AVR T-Shirts, AVR Shopping bags, Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream Cakes, and this massive hunk of chocolate...

That's a $50 Allan's Candy Prize pack with all the goodies that he will need to have a great Easter at his place! I wish he was my dad, I'd ask for the Mr.Nutty Bunny!

I got to meet a great in Canadian Broadcasting today, and I have to say it was an honor. He came into AVR to record some commercials. Although if you listen to my show, you would never know how much he influenced me in my broadcasting career, trust me he did. I used to watch him with his weekly chats with Steve Murphy on the CTV Evening News at 6. He is now a Senator, but Mike Duffy is still one of my all time favorite broadcasters, and to sit and talk with him was very cool. He knew Willard Bishop personally, and Willard was the founder of Evangeline Broadcasting that he eventually turned into Annapolis Valley Radio with a network of 5 radio stations. Willard was a friend of mine before he passed as well and we got to exchange stories about him, plus Mike was using the new Blackberry Torch. We talked about that and how he wants to check out the new Playbook that came out yesterday from Blackberry. He is a great man, a great story teller and more over a great Canadian. If you ever get to spend a minute with Mike, you will leave a better person for it! I called him Mr.Duffy and he told me that was his father, but it still felt odd calling one of my idols by their first name. The pleasure was all mine Mike!

Tomorrow Jason McCoy will set up his show for you at the Casino in Halifax that he is playing tomorrow night, and Nichole Lutz will take you on an Easter egg Hunt in Kentville. All that and maybe even a bag of chips starting at 5:30!

Here's the full interview I did with Victoria Banks, really nice person and i can't wait to see her with Reba in September!

KENTVILLE HOME SHOW 2011 AND 4 H RALLY

KENTVILLE HOME SHOW 2011

The big trade show of the year is the Kentville home show at the Centennial Arena. Now that i am a home owner, I look forward to checking out new ideas for my house, and best yet, ways I can save money around my house! I know a buck in my pocket is better than in someone else's! Here's some of the picks I took of the show!

Can not say enough about Dale and his parents. They take great care of me at this show every year, and now we are linked up on facebook! I can't wait to see you again, my fudge is almost all gone already!

The gang from Fraser's were ready to answer all your questions!

Scotian Gold had a big booth set up there!

Jerry's RV working out the saving on an RV for someone.

What kind of house wouldn't look good next to a brand new car from Kentville Mazda?

Kevin Bennett and the boys from Atwaters Chimney Service.

Here's Eric From Bolland's Driving Solutions. He has a new instructor car simulator too, that gets first time drivers ready for the road before they get on the road.

The sister's of Atlantic healing hemp with all of their products on display. i was hoping they were going to bring out a T-Zone vibration machine for me to use!

These 2 chased me trying to paint my finger nails, but I smelled the fries cooking and ran!

I know these guys from Palmer's! I have been on location at the Wolfville store a couple of times!

Tom Fredericks and I have worked together at AVR, The Wandlyn Inns, and have been doing the local DJ entertainment thing for years. He's a guy you can trust!

If you want to volunteer with your local Fire department, you need to get a hold of them, because they are always looking for new members!

Tanya Moore has the most energy of anyone I know! She and her committee in Windsor West hants have brought the Relay for Life from 6 small teams to now they have to use the exhibition Grounds in Windsor to hold their relay in just 3 years! This year Tanya has put her hair on the block, she will shave it all of for $10,000! The fund raising begins!

Here's Pam from Invisible fence, the sponsor jimmy the janitor 8:20 on the AVR Morning Show! People think her husband is Jimmy!

Cathy from Bed bath and Home with her display.

This young fella at the canteen sells me a hot dog, fries and a coke, and before he pulls the pop out of the fridge he says, "do you want a diet Coke?" I couldn't pass up the opportunity here. I said, "are calling me fat? Do i look like i should be drinking a diet Coke?" I have never seen someone back peddle so fast, and his mom was going to pee herself laughing in the corner!

Allan Shay and his crew checking out the $7000 backyard give away.

What a great bunch of prizes! check out the list...

Here's me!

Me and Rosie, she calls in Birthdays all the time!

Another regular listener of the AVR morning Show! I really thank you for listening, without you there would be no show, i would be talking to myself!

4H RALLY IN NEW MINAS

I was invited out to be a judge with the 4H Regional Rally by one of the 4h'er's I had the chance to help out. Laura Kenney and her cousin Allison were on the organizing committee and Laura had heard a speech I gave to 4H Real skill about being on the radio, and she actually came in to AVR and Co-hosted a bit of the AVR Morning Show with me. It was my pleasure to be invited as a judge. I was teamed up with Lorne Pigeon who i have had on the AVR Morning Show before when the Scotties Qualifiers were going on in Kentville, he is also a grade 6 teacher. Everyone who participated, you were great and I hope you keep going on in the 4H program. Good luck to the volcano boys from Sommerset, you guys really need to take that show on the road, you guys could pack comedy clubs all over the world with that act!

It was a packed house for the speeches and demos. I was a judge for the Host and Hostess part and remarkably with how many interviews i do on the AVR Morning Show, that is what I had to do with Lorne.

Here are the other judges, Lorne is the one on the far right, and you may recognize Di Best who has been with the AVR family for 30 years! She is also active within the 4H program as well.

Here are the guys and gals competing to be host and hostess for 4H. I have worked with Chris before, he was in real skills and has been on the AVR Morning Show before with that program, and the young lady who is on the far right gave a wonderful paper flower demo in Sheffield Mills for their competition where I was a judge as well. Ms Greenough (far left) and Mr. Daniels (3rd from left) are the new host and hostess for 4H.

The AVR Win Sticker Patrols are hitting the streets this week with stops Mon-Thurs, you need your sticker to get into the winning. Last year i gave away over $10,000 in concert tickets to lucky win sticker owners! You want some of that, get your sticker to win!

GIVE YOUR BEST TO SAVE A BREAST FUND RAISER DOOLY'S 2011

Last night a Dooly's New Minas Magic 94.9 invited me out to host their Give Your Best To Save A Breast fund raiser for the 3rd year in a row. I should have word on how much was raised, but by the looks of the crowd, we should have a pile of cash. Here are some of the high lights of the evening, I wish I had more time to take some, these were catch as catch can!

Mike Mitchell and what he hopes are the bald friends he has in Albert Coffill and Andrew Johnson, General Sales Manager of Magic 94.9. Nothing says togetherness like a lack of hair! We raised almost $300 just that one night.

The Mark Riley trio were great! Awesome music from 8-10:30, then Billy T took over for a night of dancing!

I think he had a long hair cat on his head! Look at all the hair!

Jocelyn Dylan from Magic 94.9 middays shaved his head, I wonder if she'll have a job on Monday? LOL!

The Owner of Dooly's New Minas Andrew thanking the ladies for helping out a great cause!

Face painting, and body painting for cancer...lots of ladies had it done too!

Me and Mike with a breast cancer survivor who listens to my show on AVR every morning! A breast cancer survivor and listens to my show...now there's a brave woman!

This speaks for it's self!

Coming up this week, I hope to be talking to Jimmy Rankin about his new song with Keith Urban and just catch up with him on what he's been doing since we talked last fall. I will have the full Jason Mc Coy interview up later this week as well so you can have the inside scoop on the concert coming up April 21 at Casino Nova Scotia.
